Review of Juno (2007) by Andy G — 09 Sep 2013
I saw Juno in theatres in sixth grade. That was a big deal because those who did have any desire to see it weren't allowed. Upon first viewing I deemed it my favorite movie. I replayed the soundtrack (made with the love of Kimya Dawson and other artists) on every car ride. I bought the DVD, and watched it, and watched it, and watched it. It never got old, because I could revel in different subtleties each time. And each character had a certain way about him or her that made collaboration with other characters flawless.
And what collaborations! Diablo Cody's screenplay and Jason Reitman's direction! Ellen Page's offbeat charisma and Michael Cera's quirky juvenility. J.K. Simmon's fatherly love with Allison Janney's biting parental eye. Jennifer Garner and that baby that stares right up at her eyes when she holds it!
Goddamn this movie is on fire! It is the funniest, sweetest, most original contemporary movie I've seen. It has a heart of pure fucking gold.
