Review of Jungle Fever (1994) by Ken F — 24 Apr 2008
Oh Wesley! Horrible. Just horrible to think this guy's headed up the river. Three years! For tax evasion! On the same day that Sean Bell's killers go free! Tragic.
Anyhow, this is the best of Wesley's work and Spike's framing of the black superstar who refuses to be humble in the face of whites demanding gratitude continues to be relevant. Samuel L. Jackson used to be a fine actor. Oh god was he good. A decade from now, I'm certain i'll put my child on my knee and have to explain to him that Sam used to do good movies before Snakes on a Plane IV: The Snakening. But poor, poor Wesley.
