Review of Junebug (2005) by Rachel G — 10 Feb 2008
This film here is a little masterpiece. I hadn't heard of it except when I heard Amy Adams was nominated for an Oscar, but even then I didn't care much. But I've just seen it, and was surprised at its overall quality, and especially, at how real it is.
Amy Adams gives an incredible performance, truly. Embeth Davidtz falls short with her character, though. Still, all actors are good, and have to be, to understand the complexities of this wonderful script.
Even Ben McKenzie is good here. What I most loved about this movie is how it didn't solve any problem, but just let us in for a while into their lives, to think about how we accept and deal with issues like this.
I also liked its patience, its tranquility, and humble presentation.
