Review of Jumping the Broom (2011) by Marcus G — 28 May 2011
Before going into this movie I had my doubts that it would be any good, but after watching it I have to say it's pretty good. What makes this movie good is the fresh story line that I have not seen in a black movie in a while.
It also has a cast of black actors that didn't do anything right in the beginning, but read their lines on the script. After the film moves along the cast seem to have a connection between each other during the middle of the film.
I love the emotion that the cast brings towards the end of the film because it's so well brought together and delivered and I could feel it down to the pain portrayed to the tears. Also the comedy is good in this movie.
It does not seem forced just like in most black movies, but comes in when it needs to and adds a nice flare to the film. Overall I was pretty entertain by the movie and enjoyed it after thinking back over what it had to offer.
This movie has its flaws that pop up here and there, but this is a new entry into the title good black movies that have been long forgotten over the years.
