Review of Jumper (2008) by Marcus M — 16 Aug 2012
Well to begin with, the premise of the entire movie is rather interesting. The special effects are very well done, the sets are believable. Not too many scenes that are not honest to their purpose.
But this movie is flawed in two important categories; Character Development, and Acting.
Samuel L. Jackson is in my opinion an actor that thrives in the over the top role, which he does here. But the role doesnt fit the character to me. Hayden lost my respect in Star Wars episode 3 and continues to disappoint. I will give him credit for his acting this time because it was a step up, but not necessarily good.
This movie really failed to make the characters more than physical appearances. The minimal back story present is rip-off tv level crap.
In the end this movie feels like chapters 1-5 of a 10 chapter book. Dont goto it expecting any closure but more for pure enjoyment.
Again I am forced to wait for a movie worth seeing.
