Review of Jumper (2008) by Jake H — 31 May 2014
This is another one of those movies that I'd consider to be a guilty pleasure. It ain't nearly as bad as the Red Dawn remake, but there's still quite a bit wrong with it. The pacing is awkward, the story erratic, and the performances from the two leads aren't the best.
I don't really blame them, though. Some of the lines they deliver are pretty bad... Hands down, the best character would have to be Jamie Bell, who on his own makes half the scenes in this movie bearable with his energy and witty dialogue.
Where this movie shines, however, is with the premise of the film itself. The way teleportation is depicted makes it look extremely cool, and the film to its credit does have a very energetic, upbeat tone.
I'd consider this to be a fun movie, but is by no means good, let alone great.
