Review of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) by J. Raphael H — 21 Jan 2018
I can't say much bad about this film. The contrast to the mess that was star wars was clear. All the characters did a sterling job, but Jack Black was in a league of his own. Simply wonderful acting. Madison Iseman was so hilarious as Bethany that I was very sad when I knew she wasn't going to be in the whole film. The film is funny, its engaging, the Rock is entertaining as ever, Kevin Hart is great. The game scenario with lives is a very nice idea and works well. The only negative things I would say is that the villain was unconvincing and perhaps unnecessary, Karen Gillan only really got one moment to shine (and for some reason didn't lose two lives), and the long cheesy ending was unnecessary.
Still overall cohesive and they didn't overdo the CGI. Very good film.
