Review of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) by Drew H — 07 Apr 2018

First to mention I watched this movie at home with family and sometimes that can enhance or deflate the experience. Watching with a good group of laughers can help pull out the comedy in a film even more, engaging you further.

With that said however, I believe I would have liked this movie just as much as I do even had I watched solo. This was an epic adventure that I pretty much enjoyed from the getgo and I will admit I was very against the idea of this movie when I first heard of it, but that was mostly because it was first rumored to be a complete remake of the Robin Williams classic.

Once previews rolled out and it was shown to be more a of a sequel I was quickly on board and it certainly did not disappoint. With a few honorable nods to the original, which is something I expect to gain my complete trust, we are jetsetted into Jumanji this time.

Its epic, original, clever, witty, catchy and funny. The backdrop for this storyline is to make them feel like they are in a video game and let me tell you... this movie does that and takes you on the best ride making it feel like its an actual video game without having to play it for yourself.

Jumanji (Welcome to the Jungle) gives you a good idea of the main characters in the beginning without taking to much time as to get you into the adventure as soon as possible. I believe that to be a tricky feat.

Often times movies fail in this particular part as its either to short with not enough development to make you feel engaged or to long where you loose interest in the underlining story that needs to be told to get you engaged.

Promotion for this movie was spot on to. Fearing to much plot can sometimes be given away in the trailers...knowing what I recalled from the trailers did take away from a few surprise elements that could have enhanced the actual watching of the movie however, I was okay with that because the adventure was still perfectly entertaining.

Sooo...with that all said this movie also earns the rewatchable factor! Infact I rewatched the same day after the family left. Finding a movie of this caliber that I truly would rewatch and enjoy every bit each time is rare.

Is this the best movie ever made...no, but it certainly is awesome!
