Review of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) by Cathexisarcana — 26 Mar 2018

PROS: 1) The adult cast is a good ensemble, although I feel like Kevin Hart's portrayal of Fridge is far more spastic than the younger actor, so someone was not matching the other. 2) Karen Gillan in Tomb Raider-esque attire.

3) It's mostly funny when it tries to be, and even when it fails, it's not embarrassing. 4) The video game setting is a cool way to update the concept. 5) The visuals are excellent. CONS: 1) The villain is incredibly uninspired.

2) The story beats are formulaic (no surprise, there, but hey, I gotta mark it zero, dude). 3) I know this is pedantic, but most video games do not have playable characters that have no offensive skills in a clearly adventure-based game.
