Review of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) by Jonmit — 29 Dec 2017
I was pleasantly surprised by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. It delivered the goods as an escapist fantasy holiday movie. With solid special effects, an A-list cast, good action and effective use of humor, this movie flies by while you're in the theater.
Some of the humor is crude and misses the mark, but on the whole the dialogue is witty and the "Jumanji" universe created in this film is immersive and fun. The Rock and Jack Black stand out as excellent "avatars" for their lesser known teenage selves.
Kevin Hart was also very funny in his role. Don't expect Shakespeare, but worth seeing at least once in the theater.
