Consider this: Jack Black's character speaks in a high-pitched, effeminate voice throughout the movie-which prima facie might seem to be because he plays the virtual reality avatar of a teen girl, but once you realize that none of the other characters have the timbre of their voices altered, it means that the girly voice is natural to Black's character.
That's a funny joke any way you slice it, and speaks to how cleverly layered this adaptation of Jumanji ultimately is.
