Review of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) by Ilona B — 27 Dec 2017
This was an awesome movie and I honestly don't know why some people are rating it so poorly. Phenomenal acting, especially from Jack Black. Black becomes Bethany so convincingly, you forget that you are watching a film and you get really emersed in the experience of Jumanji.
The movie wasn't too juvenile, as I feared it would be, and had humor that was a nice nod to young adults. Some complain that 'Ruby Roundhouse,' was dressed provocatively, but this too is a nod to the audience.
Ruby's outfit and the redundancy of the NPC dialogue were a nod to gamers that really helped the audience emphasize with the characters on screen. This movie, while not being a remake of Jumanji, surpassed Jumanji with its all star cast, phenomenal acting, and lack of need to take itself too seriously.
