Review of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) by Jaime L — 24 Dec 2017
When I first saw the trailer for this I was not interested in the least. It looked like the standard Hollywood making disastrous remakes of 80s and 90s films that tear apart their great originals. Still I had some time so decided to take a chance with this and I have to say I am surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Still doesn't compared to the original Jumanji but this new version was fun in its own way. I found it to be quite hilarious and the cast did a great job playing awkward teens in their new bodies. Jack Black especially played the social media addicted teenage girl perfectly. For minuses in Jumanji, a few jokes do fall flat and the villain like usual with villains in movies these days was a complete non entity. The enjoyment here is the characters and their fumbling through the game.
Going to have to rewatch at some point to see if this holds up but at the very least it may be my biggest surprise of 2017, something I was almost positive was going to suck turned out to be a fun time in the theater.
