Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a great second chapter to the original without ruining it, or trying to replace it. It honors the first, while being it's own separate movie, while still loosely tying into the continuity of the first.

It's also a fun plot, doesn't take itself too seriously, and is fun for the whole family whether you've seen the first or not!
