Review of Jumanji (1995) by Lucas Y — 03 Apr 2013

I remember dying to see this as a kid because I loved the book so much. At the time it was the biggest special effects extravaganza since Jurassic Park. After a recent viewing it still holds up, but one thing I never understood is why they don't play the game faster.

Ya, it's a movie, but why embrace every disaster after every turn instead of just rolling the dice one player after another and finishing quickly? Always thought a prequel explaining where the game came from would have been awesome.

I still laugh every time Van Pelt screams like a little girl flying in the canoe across the Wal-Mart.
