Based more on nostalgia that any technical aspects or groundbreaking plotlines in this film, but nearly 20 years after the event, I still find "Jumanji" very watchable.

Telling the story of a board game that brings elements of the jungle to life in an urban setting with every turn, the special effects were probably pretty awesome back in the day, but ultimately you can see the animatronics grinding along in the modern age.

But still, it's undeniably cool to see elephants, rhinos, lions, crocodiles, zebras, monkeys, mosquitos, spiders, vines, pelicans and a sadistic hunter run rampant in a small society.

The acting is quite charming as well, particularly from Robin Williams, and a young Kirsten Dunst (although I didn't think much of the performance from Bonnie Hunt, it must be said).

But the main advantage is that it's just so damned fun. It's a key piece of my own childhood, and I wouldn't change that for the world.
