Review of Julien Donkey-Boy (1999) by Joel S — 16 Jan 2007
Bremner is brilliant. He was completely convincing. Almost as if this were a documentary. He just acts so completely mentally ill, it's amazing. He even somehow affects not only the dress, but the postures, facial expressions and characteristics that make him appear to be mentally ill.
I found this movie completely watchable and also I found it to have a strong emotional core. The emotion in this film is really something. Everyone in the film was great and played perfect. The editing is amazing and the camerawork really gives an intense visual experience. There were many great shots and scenes in this film but the one scene that I liked the most was toward the end. When they are all ice skating and they are all so happy. Then in some parts the camera is put right on they're faces and you can see how happy they all are skating. That scene gave me such a good feeling like no other film has.
