Review of Julien Donkey-Boy (1999) by Richard W — 29 Jun 2007
I imagine this is a much more accurate depiction of schizophrenia than in other films as it's based on Korine's uncle, it's certainly very different. Like Gummo the film lacks any linear narrative but does stick with the same characters.
As with other dogme films the film's look and camerawork take some getting used to as the quality changes frequently between shots (including some highly inventive secret filming to get genuine reactions).
Whether you'll enjoy Korine's second film in questionable, but you can't help but admire his intentions.
