Though Julie's story pales by comparison to Julia's, the movie is charming thanks to Meryl Streep. Her portrayal of Julia Child -- or rather our idea of Child as the Salon critic put it -- is so entertaining, making it easy to overlook the not particularly interesting script.
Stanley Tucci, Linda Emond and Jany Lynch also are pleasures to watch.
