Review of Julie & Julia (2009) by Jayden C — 16 Aug 2011
This isn't really as great as I'd thought it'd be. I'm somewhat interested in cooking for some odd reason. I'll watch Food TV all freaking day (which doesn't make sense really being a vegetarian).
I actually have no idea who Julia Child is but after some YouTooooobing I have to say Meryl Streep's performace is freaking spot on. She completely transforms herself into Julia Child for 2 hours.
The running time is very long considering the little amount of drama that unfolds in the movie so to combat this the story is told concurrently with a blogger Julie (played by the sexually attractive Amy Adams) who cooks every recipe in Julia Child's famous book in a year.
Problem is that story isn't very interesting. The movie doesn't really show the cooking of the recipes like I thought it would and Julie is a complete selfish twat of a bitch. Yeah the movie was kinda average, worth seeing for Meryl Streep but that's all really.
Even for foodies it's a disappointment.
