Jules and Jim is a beautiful, amazing, surprisingly modern film, and serves as a prime example of the French "Nouvelle Vague" movement. Jeanne Moreau is brilliant, but the true focus of the film is on the love affair between the titular characters, whose relationship transcends any physical boundaries.
Jules and Jim is also notable for its wide-ranging influence. The story has since been retold numerous times, but never as well as here. Essential viewing.
