Review of Jules and Jim (1962) by Monika P — 15 Jun 2008
Ok, I was taken to the movies against my will and had never heard of this movie before -I didn't quite know it was supposed to be a "masterpiece". So at first the movie seemed odd, dated, and simplistic.
A bad woman, two good men (or rather two men escaping judgement). But then the magic begun, with Jeanne Moreau giving a superb performance. Mesmerising, magical in a way that is hard to describe- imagine a beautiful careless woman with dishevelled hair laughing really loudly -at everything and everyone- while cycling in the countryside wearing a long floaty dress.
And then imagine it's all very sad. There you go, Jules et Jim.
