Jules and Jim are interesting creatures. Catherine is an annoying whore, causing Jules and Jim to suddenly turn into sniveling, annoying little turds obsessed with a piece of crap at the expense of common sense.
Call it "love" if you like, but they're just plain stupid. The film starts off pretty lightly, changes tones fairly gracefully, but then Catherine's "freewheeling", and the males following her like pathetic weiners, drags down the remainder.
