I do not know if this story is based on a true case or not - but the answer it gives to the question it posed is certainly very convincing and sound morally correct - though certain people may disagree with it.
Like most 60's movies, this one purely relies on the 'human' skills rather than technological skills to deliver a classical piece. An all time great!
