MASTERPIECE!!! Emotionally intense movie that just leaves you Gutted. Watch this movie just to see how otherwise educated and wise souls were caught up in the Nazi madness. Hitler did not rise out of nowhere, he was a product of the circumstances.
Which is the point this movie drives forcefully. And yes the Allies were as Guilty too. Vatican,US, Churchill, Russia all of them looked the other way at crucial times. Just go watch this movie, it is a CLASSIC.
And memorable performances by Burt Lancaster, Spencer Tracy, Maxmillian Schell.
