This gets a bad rap for being crap and it only partly deserves some of it. It deviated from the books but was still a decent little summer popcorn sci-fi movie. The only real downside was stupid Rob Schneider who ruins everything when he is on screen.
Also, they pretty much aped whatever sci-fi movie imagery that they could at all times...
