Pretty bad, but entertaining nonetheless. Watch for the Judges' Council, wherein every member speaks in turn to get the exposition across, the fact that pizza (and the delivery thereof) still exists in the far distant future, and an enormous cured ham playing Armand Assante playing Judge Rico. Diane Lane and Max von Sydow lend credibility that you would never expect.

Redemptive points: Mutants, giant robots, James Earl Jones' ponderous narration, and Alan Silvestri's soundtrack, which sounds like Basil Pouledoris Lite. The coolest guns ever.

Much like "Starship Troopers", I love this flick, but I can't give it more than three stars. And that's reaching.

P.S. Is it just me, or is Fido the A.B.C. bot about the right dimensions for a Warhammer 40K Space Marine? And isn't that massive gun Stallone wrecks the Angel family with a pretty good size-stand-in for a bolter?

P.P.S. I like to think that's James Remar's small part in this is the descendant of Ajax from "The Warriors" - it's even the right part of the country.
