Review of Judge Dredd (1995) by Mark K — 25 Sep 2012

I never read the comics so I can't comment from that perspective. However, judging the movie as a stand alone film, it really wasn't all that good. Don't get me wrong, it had high entertainment value, decent action sequences, and an interesting setting that if executed better could've resulted in a fantastic movie.

Where this film went wrong was that the plot was terrible and full of holes. Things like Rico's escape from Aspen prison and all the ensued as a result just didn't make sense and really was just poor writing.

This poor writing and reasonless destruction hurt the movie. Hopefully the new Dredd film doesn't make these same errors in "judgement".
