Juan of the Dead offers a much needed injection of creative ingenuity to the initial formula of a zombie film. It doesn't necessarily reinvent the formula, but it uses its elements in a way that feels fresh while also changing the landscape to result in a breath of fresh air for zombies.
Or maybe, "a fresh helping of brains," might be better suited for that statement. Juan of the Dead is a fantastic addition to horror with its laugh-out-loud humor, its creative kills, its exceptional music, and above all else its originality.
You'll only be left wondering when director Alejandro Brugués will announce another project because you'll have the desire to be first in line the day of its release.
