The zombie film gets back to it's political roots, except this Cuban produced horror/comedy uses the zombie hoards to represent the unrelenting onslaught of capitalism upon poor little ol' Cuba, which is embodied in Juan and his cohorts who spend most of the film trying to stave off the capitalist hoard.

To some degree it tells the history of Cuba with the living dead. The filmmakers actually go so far s to have the characters humorously refer to the zombies as "dissidents". It's a flawed film to say the least, with the low brow humor not always working, the characters not being all that likable and with below average special effects, but the interesting Cuban setting, an entertaining story and decent zombie action make it worth watching for fans of the genre.
