I don't think it was that tragic but it was sad indeed. Sad regarding the situation Ju Dou was under. She tried to free herself from the abuse and neglect she suffered from her husband whom she despised.
She found true love from her "nephew" (who was the same age as she). Im just confused about the child, is it really the nephew's son? and the curse that the husband casts upon Ju-Dou and the Nephew did that cause the baby or son to hate the nephew? Anyway, the film had compelling characters.
..i mean REALLY!. Beautiful images and striking colors played out in their environment. Also, the shots and cinematography were excellent. I totally recommend this film. Beautiful and compelling!
