Review of Joy Ride 3 (2014) by Will K — 08 Jun 2014
"Joy Ride 3" is a film for gorehounds, and ONLY gorehounds. As a second Direct-to-DVD sequel to the original hit that featured Paul Walker, I honestly expected complete garbage but it was no where near as horrible as I thought.
From a film standpoint, the acting was actually pretty solid with some really neat special effects given its extremely neutered budget. It's miles above the second "Joy Ride" film, but still cannot touch the original though it's definitely worth the watch (and they rarely top the original).
"Joy Ride 3" has a main objective of being as nasty as it can be and it achieves its goal with finesse. Its focus on building up its ridiculously insane death scenes create a sense of dread, which some viewers seeking certain Horror films sometimes look for, although this is without a doubt not for the faint of heart as many scenes are extremely sadistic and disturbing.
This Direct to DVD sequel tops many others, but be warned "Joy Ride 3" is much more gruesome than its predecessors.
