Joy ride is a great road movie and thriller. Joy Ride is a great movie because of the cast and story! The actors Steve Zahn and Paul Walker have a certain chemistry together. The actors should preform in more movies together! Walker plays the straight character while Zahn is the trouble maker who creates drama.
Ted Levine is the man without a sense of humor/ psycho truck driver Rusty Nail. What makes Rusty Nail scary is we do not see him, but only hear Rusty Nail's voice, via c b radio, throughout most of the movie.
Rusty Nail's voice make the audience's imagination go into overdrive with anxiety about what the truck driver looks like. The story is great. Zahn's character (Fuller) pushes Walker's character (lewis) into pulling a prank on the wrong guy aka Rusty Nail who is a psycho.
When do these characters ever learn psychos have no sense of humor! Rusty Nail has his own type of payback humor which causes the brothers to have a interesting road trip. Worth watching on movie re-runs on the dusk network.
I give Joy Ride four out of five stars.
