Review of Joy Ride (2012) by Jacob P — 19 Sep 2013
This is a good thriller.
It has plenty of suspense reminiscent of others of its kind but very enjoyable.
A small prank by two brothers turns into a high-speed chase of terror and survival as one truck driver wants his 'Candy Cane'.
This is one of Paul Walker's better movies and that's saying something considering his semi-average track record, Leelee Sobieski is ok but she needed more to do in the movie than be used as an old plot device, Steve Zahn impressed me very much, but really his character is an immature, deouche who doesn't know when to stop.
And the actual plot doesn't kick off until the hour mark then things start getting real.
Still this film kept me biting my nails with intensity.
It's what 'Rest Stop' should have been all along and maybe even 'The Hitcher' remake, too.
I really think it's better for us not to play jokes on people particularly when driving out on the road.
Be warned.
