Review of Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead (2009) by Michael T — 05 Jul 2009
A direct-to-DVD followup to the original JOYRIDE. Its got an attractive cast of unknowns and the return of the creepy truck driver "Rusty Nails" from the first film. Like Dennis Weaver in DUEL, these poor kids are chased by a psychotic truck driver through the deserts of the American Southwest, and there is never a state trooper around when they need one.
Still, it is derivative of the first film and DUEL and, unlike in the first film, the characters are not fully developed so you really do not care about them too much. The film also diverts pointlessly off into "torture porn" territory.
This was another previously viewed DVD I finally got around to watching and will soon be discarding. The desert region in British Columbia stood in for the American Southwest.
