Review of Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead (2009) by Ann G — 05 Sep 2009
This film I found to be very disappointing. The actor playing Rusty Nails is still terrific, but now he has been reduced to a typical slasher type. This is where the film loses me. I loved the first film. It was virtually a modern day remake of Duel. The characters were likeable and the villain was scary(we've all run into a man who creeped us out and this was him all around)and that hardly ever happens. They didn't rely on gore or any of that slasher type cliches.
This film however does. It lines up four teenagers just for a slaughter and while I enjoy the typical slasher film it wasn't needed in this series. The stunts were good and the Russian Roulet game played using Craps was good, but that's all that caught my attention.
This film was made for the simple idea of being made for DVD audience who liked the first film.
See this film at your own discretion, its not the worse film in the world and other sequels have been worse, but if you're looking for a repeat of the first film you'll be disappointed.
2 out of 5.
