"Joy" is brilliant. The film has been under-rated by critics because it isn't as "bubbly" as David O. Russell's previous films with Jennifer Lawrence. This story, however, is different and takes a bit longer to tell.
The titular Joy meets a series of obstacles that she must overcome before she is able to take control of her destiny. That story needs more time to tell and is isn't necessarily as comic as that in "American Hustle.
" Nevertheless, the story is inspiring. Jennifer Lawrence is engaging from the beginning.
