Review of Joy (2015) by Arseniy V — 15 May 2016

This had some scenes that made me think there could be something here, but ultimately it seemed like the director was just trying way too hard to make a fairly straightforward movie into something "artsy." The first 45 minutes were weird and the last 15 minutes didn't work for me either, but in between -- when it really gets to the meat of the story -- I enjoyed it (mostly on the strength of J-Law's performance). As a whole, it's ultimately just okay, but it still definitely the best movie about a mop I have ever seen.

Grade: C+.
