Stephen Chow is going back to the story of the Monkey King again years after the success of Chinese Odyssey: Pandora's Box and its sequel Chinese Odyssey: Cinderella. But this time, he doesn't appeared in the film, he wrote and directed the movie.
Ever since Shaolin Soccer, Stephen Chow has been utilizing CGI in his films and this time it's no different. In fact, this film welcomes it. It's a much different take of the story and the characters of the Monkey King, Piggy and Sandy are much darker than we have seen.
But it's a Stephen Chow, so there's lots of humor.
