Review of Journey to the West (2014) by George C — 06 Jul 2014

An absolutely wild, weird and side splitting hilarious fantasy adventure. While it's not the best effort from director Stephen Chow, the sense of humor is absolutely spot on. I haven't laughed this hard in a movie for many, many years.

The action is alright and the acting is rather cheesy, but there are a couple great themes presented in the film...along with plenty of eastern elements that just are strange for a western audience.

Overall, a hilarious movie at points with a weird sense of direction, Stephen Chow's latest is humorous but stale.
