Review of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012) by Rachel F — 11 Dec 2012

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island starts off with a good level of intrigue and mystery, but simply becomes standard disappointing in the end. The main character is extremely annoying and he constantly gets what he wants to little or no consequence and is never really given any real reason why this demeanor is unacceptable.

The Rock offers his typical charisma to the film and Michael Caine does his best to be charming, but the addition of comic relief of Luis Guzman just is a bit too much. Some interesting creatures such as the Electrical Eel looked fantastic, but the prolonged ride on the bee made me almost wish I was watching Honey I Shrunk the Kids instead.
