Review of Josie and the Pussycats (2001) by Mister D — 16 Aug 2007
Good fun for your inner teenage girl. We've all got one, this is the twentyfirst century. Josie and her Pussycats are alright, if on the insipid side of spiky power-pop, but it's a very funny film which has a lot of fun at the expense of the media and the music industry.
Sure, it's not biting satire, but it's hardly intended to be - it's just lively fluff! Alan Cumming and Parker Posey are great as the scheming trendmongers, really revelling in their camp villainy, and the attempts at killing off the boyband are most amusing!
