Review of Josie and the Pussycats (2001) by Richard C — 06 Jun 2009
As far as teenage pablum is concerned, this movie fares better than most: the jokes are mostly funny, Rosario Dawson is awesome (as always), the plot is completely absurd... but all the better for it. Also, the music is great, namely 3 Small Words (which is how most power-pop should sound.
..) and the Backdoor Lover tune by Dujour, which is a dead-on send-up of boy bands. The biggest mistake in this film is how they claim to satirize product placement and yet absolutely make use of it in every scene.
