Review of Josie and the Pussycats (2001) by Craig C — 08 Jul 2014
Gloriously self-referential, 1999's "Josie and the Pussycats" live action reboot of the Seventies cartoon should not have bombed at the box office. But the world was caught up in Britney and boy bands, so the social commentary about the music industry and marketing got lost in the glitter.
Like "Office Space," its reach exceeded its grasp, Beneath the irony and bubbly laughter, there's an important message for any Britney wanna bes. Recommended.
