Review of Joshua (2007) by Patrick L — 02 Feb 2008
I made the mistake of assuming this was another The Omen rip-off. Thank god I was wrong.
Joshua is the story of a wealthy New York couple who, after bringing home a new born, witness strange behavior from their 9-year old prodigy son.
It is an extremely adult, very unsettling film that went in directions I was not expecting. The characters have immense depth and the performances are super impressive. (especially Vera Farmiga).
It lacks any jumpy scares like you'd see in The Omen, but its tension far surpasses any generic horror flick I've seen recently. The ending left me with my jaw on the floor. Rent this!
