Shadowy and creepy throughout, with a mother on the verge of a nervous breakdown comparable to Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby or even the sort of delusional fear of Catherine Deneuve in Repulsion, and a brilliant unusual child with a dangerous diabolical mind contributing to the family's dysfunction.
Scariest boy since the Omen, yet something which I can't quite articulate was lacking...
