Review of Joshua (2002) by Dwayne L — 11 Apr 2008
Being a fan of psychological thrillers I can tell you that this film did deliver in the disturbing factor.
However, it's rather slow paced and definitely not for everyone. It had it's bone chilling moments, but all in all nothing is ever really ventured into.
The ending leaves you feeling like it was a chore watching this movie, which is not a good thing. Sure, the ending does kind of leave you making your own mind up about things but surely the parents would have noticed something strange with Joshua's behaviour early on.
It is disturbing without a doubt, but it seems like they tried to have too many stories playing out at once, giving almost each character a story arc and leaving the character that needed one the most, without any story arc at all really. If you watch the film, you'll know which character I'm talking about.
It is worth watching at least once to make your own mind up about the film, but don't expect any replay value.
