Review of Joshua (1976) by Angela S — 22 Mar 2008

This was a mess. The story is pretty much a re-hash of any 'creepy kid' movie that's been made in the past 20 years or so. It has far more in common with The Good Son than The Omen though as there's no satanic elements here.

The child actor here is easily the best part, he's got the creepy vibe down and he does it really well. The problem is there's just no reasoning behind it and once there's an attempt at one it's just absurd and unbelievable.

The rest of the cast does their best with the material but it's all so cliche, especially the characters, that their efforts don't have that much of an impact. It's not one of the worst things I've seen, it's certainly better than The Omen remake, but it's definitely a failed attempt at something that could've been a decent horror film.
