Review of Jonah Hex (2010) by Stuart B — 23 Sep 2011
Yikes, I knew this had bad reviews, and really wasn't expecting too much from the film, but man, even I didn't expect this much of a mess of a movie. I mean, was there even a plot involved here.
It's been a couple of days since I watched it and I really can't remember pretty much anything of it. It wasn't even one of the so bad it's funny movies. It was just really, really bad, with characters who are even more wafer thin than Megan Fox's acting ability, action with is stunted and unfocused, and for a comic book movie it's surprisinly light on visual invention.
I guess at least we should be grateful for it's short run time, because it felt like the longer it went on the more nonsensical it became, and despite Brolin's best intentions he just couldn't save what was a hackneyed script which even in better hands than Jimmy Hayward as director would have been a complete mess.
There just wasn't really anything of value I could take from the movie.
