Review of Jonah Hex (2010) by Ray H — 11 Feb 2011
Not a very good flic. I thought I would give it a try. I like Josh Brolin; Megan Fox is easy-on-the-eyes; and John Malkovich is a first rate actor. But, although this film has its moments; as a whole experience, it is not good.
Fox makes a few appearances. She does a credible job w/ the material. But, the material is not that good. Jonah Hex (Brolin) has some nasty facial make-up. He is on a revenge mission. He is believable, but the story just is not good. Quentin Turnbull (J Malkovich) is the evil-doer here. The problem, is that although Malkovich plays smarmy, crazy, and conniving characters well; he has never seemed very menacing or scary to me. So, he cannot sell the evil-doer part here. And, again, the story is bad. There is simply nothing to it.
I would suggest that you not bother to see this one.
